Approaching the one you are interested in can be difficult, especially if you are a female. Guys should always make the first move. However, if the guy that the girl is interested in is a bit on the shy side, the move may never happen if she doesn’t go first. The reality is that most guys like the ego boost from thinking that a girl is interested in them.
The first move doesn’t always have to be physical or verbal contact. It can be as simple as making sure that you have several times where you end up in the same place, at the same time. A smile or nod may be all that happens at first. By the third or fourth meeting, he should be figuring that you two have sort of met. This will probably give him the confidence to speak first. Once the ice is broken, the limits are raised.
These are a few easy steps to get an unknown guy‘s attention and approach him:
Step 1:
Start eye contact and a nice smile. If you are walking toward each other, don’t walk too fast and slow the pace down to give him a chance to notice you and feel the vibe. If he is seated or just standing, get his attention with a little stare and smile to see if he is interested in you. If he smiles back and stares the same, he is most definitely attracted to you.
Step 2 :
Walk directly to him, make sure he sees you coming, and say “hi” in a soft voice. Don’t forget to smile. That’s not easy, but it sends out a strong confident signal and takes him off-guard.
Step 3:
The second step is to speak to him. Next, listen to the tone in his voice when he speaks back. The first couple of words will let you know if he is interested in talking to you right now. If he smiles and speaks, you are in a good position. Remember, do not talk too much as it may annoy them. Let them do the talking, and just listen more than you talk.
However, many girls find it is better to make the first move through a friend. That way, if he isn’t interested, your friend can buffer the bad news on the return trip. If none of this appeals to you, ask him for his email or instant messenger ID. Then, pursue it that way. You can often say things online that just don’t seem to work in person. It may also give him the bump he needs to make a move.
The main thing is to make the move in whatever way you are most comfortable. Doing nothing when you are interested is not a good option. You may want to inquire about people who know him better before making the move. This will help keep you from wasting your time on someone who has traits that you find unacceptable. It also will help you know his likes and dislikes. That way, you won’t be as likely to say something offensive or stupid on the first date.
